Jazzing up your Jams!
One of the things that I absolutely love about Google Slides are the editing features. You can make a super snazzy slide deck. Though Jamboard is not a robust is that area, there are some things that you can do jazz up your jams!
Backgrounds:
This has been one of the lllllloooonnnngggg awaited features! Backgrounds! People have MacGyver'd many work arounds but nothing compares to the real thing! To just add a background, click on the Set background then in the menu click on the white button with the image icon all the way in the bottom right.
To search a background on Google, click GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH
A couple key words will go a long way! Here are some words that I use with my searches: background, border, and frame.
For example:
Search: frame tv png
Search: snowflake background
Though all of these searches are good, you are pretty much leaving it up to whatever comes up. This leads me to my preferred method of creating the backgrounds in a slide deck, then downloading the slide as a png.
Here we go! I am going to use Google slides because it is my preferred mode of operation. I just type slides.new to pull up a new slide deck (the downfall of this method is that to keep organized you need to make sure that you move it to your preferred location, but it is quick).
1. Click Background, then choose Image.
2. For this example I did a Google search with the keywords: slide border
3. I found the border that I liked then added in some shaped text boxes.
Here is what I came up with:
4. Then, click File, select Download then PNG image (png, current slide)
6. Add a background but this time select that image that you just created.
Think of all the possibilities! Graphic organizers, consultancy templates, prompts, etc.
Fancy Fonts:
A good question at this point would what are fancy fonts? Well, simple answer, they are not Times New Roman (𝔗𝔦𝔪𝔢𝔰 𝔑𝔢𝔴 ℜ𝔬𝔪𝔞𝔫, 😳🐣 𝕥𝓲Ⓜє𝔰 𝓝ⓔ𝐰 ℝØ𝓜A𝓝 👹🐊, and -漫~*'¨¯¨'*·舞~ 🎀 𝒯𝒾𝓂𝑒𝓈 𝒩𝑒𝓌 𝑅💗𝓂𝒶𝓃 🎀 ~舞·*'¨¯¨'*~漫- ), they are FANCY. Going through my twitter feed, someone posted that you can use fancy fonts in Jamboard. Immediately I had to try it out! Here are some fancy font generators:
1. LingoJam
Type the text you want to make fancy in the left box and the fancy text appears in the right box. Just copy (CTRL + C) and paste (CTRL+V) into a text box in Jamboard.
2. Qwerty.dev
This is another copy and paste site. There is little variation of the fonts available here that are not available at lingojam. But it is a good site.
Another copy and paste option.
Lastly, this is a good option. Just make sure that you scroll past the adds to see all your options.
Here is a Jamboard that I have added a creative background and some fancy fonts!
Bring on the fun!
