Living Like Jelly!

When more becomes less...

I was listening to the Educational Duct Tape podcast by Jake Miller and he was mentioning a study done in 2000 by phycologists Sheena Iyengar and Mark Lepper (read about it here in the Harvard Business Review).

They had put out 24 jars of jelly at a market for shoppers to taste test. They also offered a coupon if they purchased a jar. The next day they set out only 6 jars of jelly and offered the same coupon. Even though the 24 jars created more of a buzz around the tasting table, the 6 jar day sold more jelly-quite a bit more-10 times more jelly than the 24 jar day.

When there are so many choices it becomes overwhelming. I can completely relate. I am a very happy vegan. One thing that makes me particularly happy when we go out to it is that my choices are limited. I usually only have one or two options. When we go to a vegan restaurant and every option is open to me, I feel very overwhelmed and have a difficult time making a choice.

Relating to Technology

There are so many technology choices out there. You will be introduced to many options. Choose three things that you are going to learn VERY well. Three things that you will know how to use to their fullest - a review game site, perhaps some creation software, and your learning management system (LMS). Let the rest go (for now). Less is more.
